The festive season is here and so are glittering parties and dazzling events. Bollywood celebrities are making the most of this time and can be seen around town, shimmying into the night, in their sartorial best.
Recently, two actresses stepped out in the safest colour for festivities – red. One was Katrina Kaif, who sashayed into Arpita Khan Sharma's Diwali party in a scarlet lehenga by Anamika Khanna. The staple had a fully embroidered blouse and a similar cape. Katrina completed her look by going in for elaborate kundan jewellery to complement her outfit. On the other hand, Deepika Padukone launched Hema Malini's biography wearing a heavy Banarasi sari by designer Sanjay Garg. The actress chose to accentuate the look by adding gold jewellery to it, which worked really well. While both the actresses are stunning and seldom fail in the style stakes, this time around, we feel Deepika's sartorial tempo was set higher than that of Katrina's. The bold and bright sari worn by Deepika was exquisitely feminine and injected cheer to the event. However, even though Katrina's lehenga was decently fail-safe, it did not have the appeal expected from everything sported by the actress. In fact, it seemed a little overwhelming.
However, if you wish to bundle up in style, you know which colour to choose, and the fashion critics will be on your side.
Deepika will soon be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus called Padmavati and Katrina is currently filming for Tiger Zinda Hai, the sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, opposite Salman Khan. She is also working on an Aanand L Rai film, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
