BNP gets green signal for 7 Nov rally: Rizvi

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has again deferred its public rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, marking ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’, to 12 November.

The opposition political party originally sought permission from the police authorities for holding the rally on 8 November, but later it deferred the date to 11 November due to the ongoing 63rd conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
When contacted, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the party is yet to get police permission for the public rally where BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to address.
“We have, however, received a kind of green signal for holding the rally on 12 November at Suhrawardy Udyan,” Rizvi told Prothom Alo.
BNP and like-minded forces observe 7 November 2017 as ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’. On this day in 1975, amid political turmoil, soldiers and civilians jointly freed then chief of army staff Ziaur Rahman from captivity in Dhaka cantonment.
BNP had chalked out a 10-day programme to observe the day in a befitting manner, including paying homage to the grave of its founder and late president Ziaur Rahman near the national parliamentary complex at capital’s Agargaon.
But the party has been denied permission this year to visit its founder Ziaur Rahman's grave today, Tuesday, on the plea of security of foreign guests attending the CPA conference. 
The authorities have slapped section 144 in the areas until 11:00pm on Wednesday, which imposes a ban on any sort of gathering.
Talking to newsmen, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the party would for sure visit the grave when the Section 144 would be lifted.
About its planned public rally, Mirza Fakhrul said the party hopes that the authorities will allow it hold the 7 November rally

চার-ছক্কা মেরেই তো ম্যাচ হেরেছে বাংলাদেশ
