Chittagong Vikings made 101 runs in 11.5 overs but a middle-order collapse stopped their score only at 143 runs in 20 overs.
Comilla Victorians lost only two wickets to reach the winning target of 144 runs with 10 balls to spare, in their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) encounter in Sylhet on Tuesday.
It is man of the match Saifuddin who played the key role in restricting Chittagong within below-par score, capturing three wickets.
It then proved to be a formality for Comilla to attain their victory as all four batsmen scored some runs. Jos Buttler made 48 and Liton Das 23 before getting out. Imrul Kayes was not out for 33 runs and MN Samuels 35 runs.
For Chittagong, the openers -- Luke Ronchi (40 off 21 balls) and Soumya Sarker (38 off 33) -- made a flying start. But none other than Dilshan Munaweera (21) and Sikandar Raza (18) made any such contribution.
We were looking at 180 at the start. We thought 170 was par [for the competition], so started well. We kept losing wickets in the middle overs, they bowled well too, Chittagong captain Misbah Ul Haq later said.
This is the 5th match of 5th BPL and the first match of Chittagong this season.
Comilla Victorians earned their first victory in the second match.
In the first game, I was under pressure as a captain. Here, I had control. In the middle overs, Rashid, Bravo and Saifuddin bowled brilliantly, Comilla skipper Mohammad Nabi said.
